With the motto "Iceberg Capital of the World," expect scenery in Twillingate Newfoundland.  Twillingate has signs of indigenous inhabitants dating back many centuries, but full on European settlement did not start until the 17th century, driven by fishing. Twillingate is about 1.5 hours from Gander and about 1 hour from Lewisporte.

Summertime is the period in which a parade of icebergs head along the coast, thrilling photographers.  There are local boat tours and walking trails.  The Top of Twillingate Walking Trail takes you to the highest point in Twillingate and is accessed via Bayview Street. Attractions and historic sites include the Durrell Museum, Iceberg Interpretation Centre, Twillingate Museum, Twillingate Longpoint Lighthouse and more.

Twillingate accommodations include motels and bed and breakfasts.
